Recap to my NYC travel (part 3)

10:20 PM
This is my final post about my NYC trip. If you didn't read my first two posts, make sure to look at my travel selection. Anyway, on my last day in NYC, I tried to stay busy all day from packed schedule. My friend, Melanie, who is a photographer and a blogger (http://labellemel.com/), was so nice to drive all the way to NJ, then get on a bus to NYC the next morning so we could hang out. We met early in the morning to shoot some outfits, because I was not able to shoot them the day before.

After a quick photoshoot, and me running like crazy to change my outfits, we went (as planned) to visit the Violet Ray showroom. After we arrived there, we took some other street style photos featuring their new spring collection that I'm going to show later.

After that, we got quite hungry and noticed that we passed a place with cool, delicious sushi burritos. I had never tried burrito in Japanese-style before. It was actually really yummy! Melanie planned for us to go back to the hotel and drop off all the gifts that Violet Ray gave us for our Phoenix trip in April. We can't wait to shoot them! Afterward, we took a subway trip to Williamsburg bridge. That was my first time there, and it was quite fun to see a different part of the city. You probably will see more photos at Melanie's blog post that I took.;)

After freezing our butts off, we really wanted to eat some dessert. Melanie said that she want to try some Eggloo in China Town, which worked perfectly, because I wanted to go to Little Italy anyway. Plus, we had a jewelry presentation event nearby. Time flew so quickly that we didn't even notice that it turned to 6pm. We hurried to get to Flying Solo showroom, because my blogger babies started to text me. Sylvia is the founder and jewelry designer of Iza by Silvia D' Avila, who I met few days ago when I came to Flying Solo. She was so sweet, and organized a small event for me and the bloggers I invited. This was the perfect time to see everyone and get to know Sylvia and the Flying Solo team. They offered us some cheese, fruits and drinks. I can't wait until we will feature her collection on Dispurs.com.

After a few hours, we went to get some hot drinks, and of course, to try some local food. Our stop was at Delicatessen. I actually wanted to go there a while ago. The tacos were very delicious and cheap. I would definitely advise you to go there.

My trip to NYC and how I saved life of little bird (part 2)

10:26 AM
Okay, guys! Here comes my second part of the story about what happened to me in NYC.  Sit comfortably and imagine as if you were there with me ;)

On my third day:
I was planning to have a quick coffee break with Belle and to meet up afterward with two other bloggers, but because of the heavy snow and the subsequent melting into puddles across the city, Midtown had horrible traffic and I couldn't leave the city to go south.

I felt quite horrible, because Belle was waiting for me, and I sadly had to cancel our lunch. People, if you ever come to NYC, learn how to use the subway! In this situation, taxis, Uber or Lyft are helpless.  Since my lunch got canceled, I went to Starbucks and grabbed a hot chocolate and sandwich. Things got even worse after I spilled hot chocolate on myself. I wondered, what else can happen to me and ruin my day? Being dirty, hungry and very disappointed, I decided to walk to CVS to get some cleaning stuff.

On my way to CVS, I heard something loud hit the cafe window and I saw this little bird. To be honest, I was shocked, but my reaction was quick and grabbed him from the ground and put him into my scarf. He was quiet and didn't mind being picked up. Oh, if only you knew how cold it was that day! After walking for the next 5 minutes, I was looking for help, because both of my hands were busy. I saw young woman outside. OMG, she was so sweet and agreed to help me (someone said that NY people are rude! Not true!). Her name is Serena, and she was so sweet to call to animal rescue and take me with her to the East part of the city. As it so happened, she works at Chelsea in one of art galleries there.

Serena asked the Uber driver to drop her first and go to the next location. The driver was also nice and drove all the way to Central Park to the Wild Bird Shelter. With the horrible traffic and going to two different locations, I spent almost an hour in the car. As soon I got to the Wild Bird Fund organization, I met some truly amazing people. The room was full of different birds, even chickens. They explained to me what type of birds it was, and how volunteers support in the daily care of beautiful birds that need extra love due horrible wind in NYC. I was so happy that my guy was alive and actually spent plenty time with me while snuggling in my scarf.

If you are a local or live in NYC, I truly want to encourage you to make a small donation to support funding of this organization. Their space is very small, and people there are very welcoming - like a small family. If you love animals and birds you can always join them by volunteering or donating money. Even a tiny contribution is super helpful for them. You can find their organization under www.wildbirdfund.org and your gift is tax deductible! (This is not me advertising, just being real!)

After spending some time there, I needed to rush to go back to town and in order to not miss my next appointment (well I was already 1 hour late). My next appointment was at the Nina Shoes Office. I was so pleased to meet Francesca and Amanda, with whom I've stayed in touch for a long time. And now we finally met in person! They showed me around the showrooms, even told some history about how "Nina" started. We walked to a couple of the designer rooms and I was able to see where all the beautiful shoes are being created. A few minutes later, I met up with Nina herself! I felt so inspired and blessed after all the horrible hours at the start of my day.

My trip to NYC and what did I do there (part 1)

1:52 PM
Hello guys,

I hope your week was less crazy than mine. As you have seen on my social media, I took a business trip to NYC. As a fashion blogger and creative director of an online magazine, I try to work hard to turn any travel into a business trip. I never miss the opportunity to build up relationships with pr agencies, brands and blogging communities. Today, I would love to share what I did while enjoying New Yorker life. I decided that it will be better to split the story into three parts.

My first day:

On my first day, I planned to meet designer Minan Wong at Flying Solo (I will tell you more about her in my next post). You never know how your networking connections can lead you to meet more amazing people than you had not planned. That day, everyone in NYC was preparing for the upcoming snow storm, because it was supposed to be the worst blizzard in the history of New York City. Haha (I laughed myself, since I come from North Kazakhstan. 34 inches of snow is actually not so bad to shut down the entire city). Anyway, while waiting for Mimi, I decided to explore the whole room and talk to people to find out what is so special about this place. As it turned out, it was an amazing place to start networking with people in the Fashion Industry, because I met the designers and founders of Flying Solo. It felt very welcoming and the best part is that half of the people spoke Russian. In case you don’t know, I speak Russian too. Anyway, after trying on some pieces of Mimi, I fell in love with the entire collection. I promise to show you some pieces that I picked to wear while I was in NYC. Later, I went to meet my baby Keri, that runs a blog http://www.anenclothedcognition.com/. We met with her a couple of years ago, when my husband and I travelled to Philadelphia. Since then, Keri has become one of my favorite people, because she is so sweet and cute! We spent a couple of hours in Soho and went to snack on some pizza in Little Italy (just in case, if you love Pizza, go there and check it out).

My second day:

On my second day, it was a bit slow. The blizzard crashed into NYC overnight. I planned to have a quick breakfast with my new friend Alina @l00k_inside_ (that I met in Flying Solo, she is modeling for them).  As it so happened, I also got a message from Michelle (a style blogger of http://www.lehoarder.com), saying that she is coming to NYC and will be checking out some sample sales, and that I should come down too. Of course, I couldn't refuse, and I texted to Alina that we should go shop instead. As soon I arrived to the store, Michelle recognized me, and she introduced me to her friend Belle (http://ringsabelle.com/), who happens to be a fashion blogger too. After a shopping, we went to take some pics and have a quick snack by Chloe. I have heard about this place and was happy that we went there. I got a cup of broccoli soup and hot tea. We were tired from walking all day, so we took the subway to go home.

To be continued......
